When subscription boxes arrive through the post, there is always the anticipation of what will be inside and what products you'll get to try out. I'm a big fan of beauty subscription boxes as you can discover some real hidden gems that you wouldn't have necessarily tried out otherwise. Glossybox sent me their May 2017 box to see what I thought of it, and for my first original box, I'm impressed. I have previously bought the Nars 2015 Glossybox which I was obsessed with, so I was definitely intrigued to see what a regular box had in store.
Included in the box were 5 items plus a gift voucher; the Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub (£13.95), Dr Paw Paw Original Balm (£6.95), Ruby Powder Blush in Coral (€14.99), Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet (full size £23), the Daily Concepts Exfoliating Body Scrubber (£4) and a £50 voucher for Mockberg.com.
The Scrub Love Active Charcoal Body Scrub is a charcoal-based exfoliator and with charcoal known to be an ancient detoxifier, I'm excited to give this a go. It absorbs 'day-to-day pollutants and impurities' that sit on the skin and is vegan/vegetarian-friendly and 100% natural. It doesn't contain plastic micro-beads (I know regulations on this have changed for the good anyway!) so won't pollute the water. I've never used a natural body scrub before, mainly because most of the ones on the high street have contained coffee which I'm not a fan of, but I'm pretty sure my skin will love this. Speaking of scrubs, the Daily Concepts Exfoliating Body Scrubber is an in-shower body sponge that has one sponge side and one 'scratchier side' to buff out tough areas of the skin and will be great before applying fake tan. The writing on the label fades when this needs replacing which is a great idea for those forgetful people like myself.
One product I've tried before is the Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet which helps nourish, calm and strengthen the skin. It's a lightweight gel-cream that's rich in patented polyphenols and powerful anti-oxidants to help calm down reactive skin and restore its water. If you'd like to read my full review, I've mentioned two other Caudalie products as well here.
To further moisturise, inside the May Glossybox is the Dr Paw Paw Original Balm which is a multipurpose product that can be used on the hair, lips and skin and includes aloe vera, pawpaw and olive oil to soothe and nourish the skin. I've loved using it as a lip balm as I've been unwell and my lips have suffered because of this, along with having air conditioning and the fan on inside. It really nourishes the lips and help prevent them chapping and I may have to ditch my other lip balms permanently. This was my favourite item in the box for sure.
The only makeup item in May's Glossybox was the Ruby Powder Blush in Coral which is a small blush in the prettiest shade of pink that can add a pop of colour to the cheeks. I'd not heard of Ruby before but I love the minimalist packaging, especially on individual products like a blusher. The coral shade looks beautiful with my blonde hair and pale complexion and this shade of pink is right up my street.
The final item was the Mockberg £50 Voucher which lasts until April 2018 and can be made on the Mockberg.com online store. I had a look at their products and their watches range from £99-£129 so with a £50 voucher you can buy their cheapest watch for £49 which isn't bad at all. Although I'm not currently on the lookout for a watch, I'll keep this to hand in case I can use it towards a present for somebody as the watches are quite pretty.
