I'm obsessed with eyeshadows, to the point that I've completely filled my makeup storage boxes and my makeup desk. My makeup collection is expanding and it makes me so happy, so when I saw the Zoeva Cocoa Blend Palette (£18) on Beauty Bay I had to buy it. I've always loved the look of the Zoeva brush sets but never ended picking any up so I thought I would start out with a palette before I went for a £100 rose gold brush set. This palette comes with 10 warm-toned eyeshadows in five different finishes which makes the palette versatile with a number off different colour combinations to create the prettiest eyeshadow looks with.
Shades and finishes:
Bitterstart - a pink-toned ivory/nude, matte
Sweeter End - mauve/lilac nougat, metallic
Warm Notes - cranberry pink/brown, glitter
Subtle Blend - deep golden bronze, metallic
Beans Are White - deep cocoa brown, matte
Pure Ganache - yellow gold, metallic
Substitute For Love - toffee brown, satin
Freshly Toasted - rich mahogany brown, metallic
Infusion - darkest brown, matte with golden glitter
Delicate Acidity - mauve/brown, duo chrome
The shades are inspired by truffles according to Zoeva, with a mix of light, medium and dark tones in different finishes. The shades are creamy in texture with good pigmentation and long-lasting colour pay off. The pans are larger than you usually see in eyeshadow palettes which is good as I hate hitting pan on my favourite shades earlier than I anticipate. Regarding the formulation, all of the shades are free from parabens, mineral oil and fragrance, and enriched with Vitamin E. Zoeva describes the formula as 'ultra-micronised'.
I'm really enjoying using this palette at the moment but need to start using shades like Infusion and Beans Are White a little more over the next few weeks and branch out a little. I think Warm Notes and Subtle Blend are my favourites at the moment, as I really cannot get enough shimmery shades in my life. I definitely want to check out the Rose Golden palette next as it seems to have more shades that I would wear all year round in.
