Watchshop challenged me to unbox my city to showcase some of the best spots and one's that you might not have heard about so I've included some photos and video of the day's activities. Apart from moving away to uni for a few years, I've always lived in Liverpool and it's been the place that I call home. Locals love showing off what their city has to offer and I'm no exception to that, and what better way to give you a taste of Liverpool than through photos and video. If you were thinking about coming to visit you won't be disappointed, with a snapshot of what to see and do in this post.
One of the things I enjoyed doing was to head over to The Wheel of Liverpool on the Albert Dock to get some of the best views across the city. It's a cheap way to get a look across the skyline with the docks area looking impressive from above. There is plenty to see from the wheel, especially when it's a clear day with some great photo opportunities while you slowly rotate around. Just across from the wheel there is a great place to eat called 'What's Cooking' that ended up being our pit stop for lunch. They have a range of options at a reasonable price with views out into the Albert Dock, so be sure to grab a window seat. You can check out our food in the vlog below.
If museums are more you thing, we have a good selection to choose from that should keep you nice and busy. The one you can see in the photo above is The Museum of Liverpool which has a range of exhibitions which you could spend quite a while in if you wanted to go around them all. It is quite a good option for a rainy day. There's even a whole section about the history of The Beatles and if that's not enough then we have The Beatles Story which is the largest permanent exhibition about the lives of the band.
After a long day wandering around the city your attention will probably start to turn to food. Liverpool has plenty of restaurants on offer, with a number situated on top of Liverpool ONE and some down in the main shopping streets. There are also a growing number of local restaurants starting to pop up, one of which we ventured to for the well earned last stop of the day. Yard & Coop is a new restaurant that opened up a few months ago and is all about chicken. If you like buttermilk chicken then it's definitely worth checking out as a change to one of the chain restaurants. You can check out some footage of what it's like including the food we got in the vlog below.
